Two Takes Week 1: Perspective - Above & Below
This idea popped into my head the minute I read the prompt. It's a very literal interpretation, pictorially speaking. Now, I'd like to spend some time processing both Bindu and Tracey's takes on perspective and mull over my own thoughts and do some writing... I really like, and appreciate, the freedom that I'm feeling to respond to the prompt in my own way and I'm sure that I've only just begun.
This was processed in PS CS5 and RadLab. The left hand photo was taken with an Android cell phone and the photo on the right with a Nikon D7000 DSLR camera. I LOVE the freedom we have these days to grab any camera that's handy and take photos! I had a total blast with this! Thank you Bindu and Tracey!

The scar on my chest. The one I've had to be brave about countless of times. Perhaps it will never end, this being brave. And can I tell you that it's (actually) a good thing? I can begin now to look at this mark as my act of courage. A way of 'letting go'.
If you look at the negative space here you will see a falcon. I do. And that's no coincidence. Nothing is. Not even my scar is really an accident. Do you see how we can change the story about ourselves? Do you see how we have the ability heal?
It's painful, but we heal.
A few years ago @mahieu found this beautiful heart shaped stone on a beach in Normandy. Isn't amazing what water can do to stone? It took ages to create this form. Must have a photo somewhere in the archives of Eric giving 'his heart' to me. #twotakes (And here is the photo: www.flickr.com/photos/jofabi/7005491491/in/photostream )

First derail. Later on the chain would derail again. And again. And again. But I enjoyed a good, long ride. Biking feels like flying.
Here I was simply glad to bathe in the sunlight and be beside the pretty orange flowers.
The outward rays of the sun; the outward plans of riding a bike.
[Folding bike - if you derail so many times and can't bike anymore because the chain is really loose it won't latch on; you simply hail a cab, fold bike, stuff it in the trunk, and head home]

the tattoo says "turo" which means "point" and also means "teach". i think that you can play around with these ideas and you will find that both have a beginning and ending story there.

as we approach the ending of a journey (within the journey), we hold on to the lessons we've learned and then surrender and let go to another beginning.

My husband and I are 20 years old. But this moment right now, right here, is new. That's his coffee (so not a coffee guy) and it's rare we spend mornings like this together because of the nature of his work; super late nights for the mister who is an awesome drummer. his latest addiction is biking - that's new! It brings him such bliss.

I love this mirror bird. I love the way it seems as if I released her from the itouch and she stretched, and arched in sweet delight and spread her wings to fly.
This is by far the best bathroom I've been to in a cafe. It had its own speakers; the clear sound of water, a river passing through rocks, bird song, and what sounded like a light breeze and the dancing and swaying of leaves brushing against each other. It gave this cozy space a sense of calm and a sense of cleansing. Great, right? Brick wall, pebbles in the sink (as filter), plants, little love notes, pretty birds everywhere, some lavender soap, a gentle and forgiving light so that when you look at yourself in the big and very clean mirrors it's not horrific and fluorescent white.
I can't believe I managed to remember what was painted in script on one wall:
"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?" Matthew 6:26
I agree we shouldn't worry. At all. The simple Buddhist rule about worry is: Don't.
But I do not think we are more valuable than the birds or the ants... We are all held in equal value, each one with a purpose that serves another.
Looking up!
Taken with my iPhone while in a moving car...processed with PS CS5 and RadLab. I added two layers of Kim Klassen's Paper Love texture which I think gave it some nice 'character'!
I LOVE working on some urban photography for a change!
I suddenly remembered my Color Cards from the class, Colour! Or is it Color?, that I took at Big Picture Classes with Nic Howard! The typed cards were created by Nic for the class. I added my photos. I used my local country setting as the theme!
These are 6x12 in size so I put them into 12x12 frames in pairs and have them (4 frames together) hanging up in my technology/art studio. They're fun and cheerful!
I love Grand Central Terminal. It's a madhouse here today, people going east, going west. I'm always serene in this spot because I know it so well, since 1981. If any of you come to NYC, make this a destination to take pictures.
Found this on the way to photograph the bridge. It's a whale hanging from a long branch of a tree. So unexpected. It reminds me of something I'd see on Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard
Ever have one of THOSE days?
I was beside myself.
Notice Morris is looking at the camera when I am not...and not looking when I AM!
See?
Back in the early years of the cyclist tunnel of the Maastunnel it was much busier than nowadays. www.flickr.com/photos/jofabi/7029300441/in/photostream. For @binduwiles #365+1 #twotakes
These photos are never easy for me. So I closed my eyes, breathed in deep and captured that moment. The breathing out came right after I made the decision to share this with all of you.
